Congratulations to Coach May and his wonderful wife as they have two new arrivals.  That's right, twin girls.  I have informed Coach B that he has several new baby sitters to pick from LOL!!!!

The West Broward Wrestling Club and the Flangan wrestlers welcome to the Falcon Wrestling Site.  Our First Day of Practice is on October 27th, but we are still having club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm.  Our Preseason Classic is on November 15th and our first tournament will be at the Key West Duals on December 6th.  Our full schedule has yet to be released.

Since the end of our regular season, most of the kids have come to club and shown a desire to be the best that they can be.  This means showing up every Tuesday and Thursday night to club.  This kind of dedication is what is needed to succeed, not only in wrestling, but in life.  As part of our off season workouts, we are attended the Nebraska Wrestling Camp at Furman University in South Carolina.  We had turned this trip into a family vacation by going into Charlotte, NC to ride roller coasters and do whitewater rafting at the US National Whitewater Center.  We had an awesome time doing the whitewater rafting.  We fell in the water, flipped over (including the guide), and got drenched!  We then went to Carowinds Amusement Park and the kids were worn out by the heat and the rides.  We then went sightseeing in Charlotte and saw the Bobcats Arena and Bank of America Stadium where the Carolina Panthers play.

When we arrived in Greenville, we had to put on the working hats.  From the moment we arrived, it was work.  Sunday night we had a session and everyday after that it was 8 am til 10 pm until we left.  We did have some great counselors with All American Jason Mester who is also an assistant coach for the University of Nebraska, NCAA Champion and two time All American Tony Davis, and Nebraska Head Coach Mark Manning showing new ways to do moves, and some new moves that we can incorporate.  The team and the conselors bonded well.  Tony and the kids were practically on a first name basis and Coach Seow and myself would catch them joking around and doing foolishness.  In fact, that foolishness made sure that every school at the camp knew who the team from Florida was.  I'm still not sure if it was a good thing or not, but they knew us :-) .

It just wasn't the camp people we met, but some incredible people and coaches from South Carolina.  We met Nena in the cafeteria.  She was an awesome lady who made us smile every morning and afternoon.  She would pick on me and make fun of me, and I couldn't help but laugh.  It just goes to show you that it doesn't matter what your age is, as long as you are young at heart.  Nena is that and then some.  Another person we met was Kristy.  She was Miss South Carolina Watermelon and she was accompanied by a gentleman who brought the kids free watermelon.  Since I don't eat watermelon, I wasn't going to go over there.  But when the kids came back and told me that there was a pretty lady there, I started liking watermelon LOL!!!!  I went over there and we talked a  bit.  She was a dance teacher and enjoyed working with the kids.   I can honestly say that she was just as beautiful inside as she was outside.  It was kind of funny about all of the nice people we met.  We wanted to tell the people that we met, and probably never will see again, to have a great life without it sounding mean.  There just wasn't a way to express that so we said have a nice day.  I hope my kids learned that being nice and respectful will come back to them tenfold.

Overall, on a scale from 1-10, I would have to say it was an 11!!!!!  There weren't many problems, and the kids were well behaved.  I just hope that they can apply what they learned to their wrestling.  I know that they are a tight knit group that's for sure!  Thanks to all of the people that help donate to our adventure.  Without your help, it wouldn't have been possible.
